From Rob Reiner comes a film of tremendous power and emotion. Starring Jack Nicolson and Morgan Freeman, The Bucket List just may be the best movie you've seen in years. It certainly was for me. I laughed, I cried and by the end of the movie I had my heart well wrung. Two men, worlds apart in their differing stations of life find themselves brought together by a common fate. Both facing terminal illnesses and neither given more than a year to live, they set out on an adventure together that will alter the paths of their final days. With a "to do" list in hand before they must face the final curtain, they find beauty, friendship and joy together. This is a movie that has the power to change lives...for the better. If you only see one movie this year, I would suggest The Bucket List. You won't be sorry you did. | Category: | Books | | Genre: | Nonfiction | | Author: | Andrew Carroll |
An interesting look at letters home from soldiers around the world in different engagements. All soldiers sound lonely and scared under the bravado, I think that is the trait that makes the reading of this book worthwhile, its HUMANITY. And there is also some humor like the tale of a soldier who had his sister purchase a gift for his sweetheart, a pair of gloves. He also told his sister to buy herself something nice with the extra cash. His sister bought a sexy pair of panties. Somehow, the items got mixed up with each other. But the hilarious part is the accompanying letter that arrived with the panties to the sweetheart. | Category: | Books | | Genre: | Literature & Fiction | | Author: | Nelson Demille |
An excellent page turner that I simply hated to put down in between readings. It has steamy sex, introspective, intelligent humor and a great cast of characters. The Gold Coast is about the very wealthy elite in New York's Long Island with high brow customs and tradition that get turned topsy when a mafia boss moves into the neighborhood.
