An interesting look at letters home from soldiers around the world in different engagements. All soldiers sound lonely and scared under the bravado, I think that is the trait that makes the reading of this book worthwhile, its HUMANITY. And there is also some humor like the tale of a soldier who had his sister purchase a gift for his sweetheart, a pair of gloves. He also told his sister to buy herself something nice with the extra cash. His sister bought a sexy pair of panties. Somehow, the items got mixed up with each other. But the hilarious part is the accompanying letter that arrived with the panties to the sweetheart.
